Are you ready to transform you life from
Going to church, reading your Bible, praying without ceasing and still feeling bad?
Feeling guilty because it doesn’t seem like enough?
Being afraid a “secular” counselor would look down on your belief in God?
Wondering what God’s purpose is for your life?
Thinking you have sinned so badly God won’t ever forgive you??
These are a few obstacles that can interfere with your relationship with God.
Why Might You Want Christian Counseling?
You may be going through a rough time in your life. You may have suffered trauma or traumas in your life. You may be recovering from alcohol or drug abuse. You want to turn your life around but feel confused, helpless, depressed, anxious or afraid. Even though you believe in God you may find yourself doubting your beliefs because of what has happened to you in the past. You are feeling hollow inside. When that bad thing(s) happened to you, you may have wondered, “ where was God “.
Christian counseling can help you along your journey. I specialize in pastoral counseling in Texas online. I am a Christian counselor here to help you heal from your hurts. I understand the emotional pain feeling alienated from God causes. I also specialize in PTSD counseling and Anxiety counseling.
It can be hard to ask for help especially if you feel others or God has let you down in the past. It takes courage to reach out and say, “I’m done feeling this way!” It’s okay to get help. It’s okay to become the best you YOU can be. You can feel empowered and strong. You can stamp your feet and say, “get lost” to all those old thoughts. You are going to meet with me from the comfort of your own home. You are going to be free to share what is on your heart in any way you want. I won’t judge you. You are going to be safe and accepted regardless of sexual, gender, cultural or spiritual orientation.
In addition to providing support to help you ease your spiritual restlessness, PTSD, or Anxiety symptoms, I can help you learn and use new coping skills. By learning these coping skills, you will be able to help yourself reduce the amount of distress you are in more healthfully. You will be able to think clearly and come to terms with your relationship with God.
As time goes on, your anxiety will calm down. You will realize that God has your back. We forget that God has big shoulders. There are books in the Bible where the writers were crying out to God and wondering what was going on. Sometimes the writer wasn’t very happy with God. God can take it.
You may be saying that this all sounds pretty good—That it would be good to go through Christian counseling, that you could find healing, but you still have some questions or concerns…
You will not have to keep going over the bad things that have happened in your life. My first priority is your safety during a session. I have specialized training in guiding you through a step-by-step process to address what is bothering you. We will investigate the impact of what has happened in your life on your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. There may be intense feelings at the beginning. I will teach you to recognize the thoughts that cause your intense feelings and learn how to change them so you don’t feel as much distress. I will be by your side every step of the way to help guide you.
It is important that you choose a therapist that you feel comfortable with so you can build a therapeutic relationship. Christian counseling sessions are a time of trying out new ways of thinking and acting. As you gain more strength and confident in yourself, you may find that your personal relationships improve along with your relationship with God. You will have a better way of thinking about situations and have new communication skills. You may find that you are a new and improved you.
Christian Counseling—Is It Worth It?
You may be avoiding going into Christian counseling or any other type of counseling. You are afraid that addressing the distress you are feeling rather than trying to ignore it you will get worse and never get better. You are afraid to give up the way you have been thinking because the old way is what you know. Making changes is scary. Accepting yourself as a valuable child of God can be difficult for some. God loves you.
Meeting with a Christian Counselor may be God’s answer to your prayer of “how do I get through this?’
